Ayrton Jon Tonna’s Challenging Weekend at the ACI Italian Championship

The 3rd round of the ACI Italian Championship, held at the Kartodromo Val Vibrata, concluded on a challenging note for Ayrton Jon Tonna. Despite a promising start during practice sessions, the weekend did not unfold as anticipated for the determined driver.

During the Thursday and Friday practice sessions, Ayrton showcased good pace for a competitive weekend. His consistent performance hinted at a strong showing in the qualifying rounds.

In the qualifying rounds, Ayrton secured 6th place in his group and 11th overall. This strong performance positioned him well for the races ahead, reflecting upon his preparation.

However, the challenges began on Saturday. In the first race, Ayrton encountered a major setback. While attempting an overtaking maneuver, he made contact with another driver. The incident left him stranded in the middle of the track, leading to a collision with two other karts. The damages sustained in this incident forced Ayrton to retire from the race, marking a disappointing end to his efforts.

Starting from P33 in the second race, Ayrton skillfully worked his way up to P22 but faced another setback, dropping to P25 on the final lap. Despite the challenges, it was evident that his pace was there as he fought through the field.

Sunday brought new opportunities and challenges. Starting from P30 in the first final race, Ayrton managed to climb up to P22, however, the second final race proved even more challenging. A collision at the start, which he fortunately avoided, was followed by engine issues that hampered his speed and pace. Despite pushing himself to the limit, Ayrton finished the race in P27.

Ayrton acknowledged the difficulties faced but remained optimistic about future races. “Another tough weekend, but that is racing!! A weekend to forget, Heads down for the next one!” he expressed.

Ayrton also took the time to express his gratitude towards his father, Jonathan Lee Tonna, for his tireless work on the kart and for being an exceptional coach, mentor, and mechanic. Additionally, he thanked KidiX Driver Performance and the entire team for their support and efforts. His appreciation extended to all his followers and supporters, promising to look forward to the next race with renewed focus.
