Didier Bugeja Maintains Lead in the Front Wheel Drive Class

Last weekend saw an other stellar performance from Didier Bugeja in the 4th round of the Island Car Club Malta Hill Climb National Championship. Competing in Xaghra for the first time in five years, Bugeja not only improved his personal best by an impressive 0.6 seconds but also secured multiple top placements, underscoring both his potential and his well tuned Peugeot which need no introduction to the hill climb scene.

Bugeja’s run earned him a class win, the title of fastest FWD competitor, a second-place finish among saloon cars, and ninth place overall. These achievements highlight his well performing car but also his results he achieved along the years. In a post-race statement on his Facebook page, Bugeja extended heartfelt thanks to his dedicated team. He credited Vincent Fenech for his expert engine tuning and mechanical work, alongside Gabriel Sammut, Matthew Bertina Gatt, Garry Attard, and Claude Frendo for their relentless efforts in preparing his car on a tight schedule. Their support was instrumental in his successful performance.

Bugeja also expressed gratitude to his sponsors, Snow White Meat & Poultry Market and Jean-Luc Micallef from JL hotel, acknowledging their crucial role in his racing endeavours. Additionally, he conveyed deep appreciation for his family’s support, which he described as a cornerstone of his racing career.

This latest performance by Bugeja not only demonstrated the competitive spirit in hill climb, not just the overall drivers but even such car like Bugeja’s. It also sets a high bar for upcoming rounds of the championship.
