Sultana and Panza Set Great Results in Sicilian Championship

Two young riders from Gozo have left their mark on the ACSI MX Regional Championship held at the Crossodromo HI FLY in Carlentini, Sicily. Matthias Sultana and Diego Panza, both members of the GMA Junior team aged 8 and 9 respectively, defied the odds on a challenging muddy track to emerge as frontrunners in their categories.

The HI FLY-Crossodromo, a 1200m track known for its sharp curves and demanding obstacles, provided the perfect setting for the young riders to put their training efforts in results. With over 125 participants, the competition was fierce, starting at 9:00 am and culminating in an awards ceremony at 8:00 pm.

Despite facing the daunting prospect of a track covered in deep ruts, Matthias and Diego proved as great opponents after just a few hours of training prior to the competition. Matthias Sultana, riding bike #27, etched his name in history as the first-ever Junior Gozitan Champion in the Gozo Motocross Championship 2024. Competing in the 65cc Open Race Category against 16 participants, Sultana dominated both races, clinching victory with impeccable timings and securing the overall winner’s title.

Diego Panza, aboard bike #222, showed true potential throughout the competition. In Race 1, he started in second place and maintained his position through seven laps, ultimately finishing with an impressive time of 1:42:726. Race 2 presented its own challenges as Panza began in 7th place but exhibited exceptional performance to clinch third overall and second in his category.

For Matthias and Diego, this is not just a personal victory but a result to their training and love for Motocross. Their families, undoubtedly proud of their achievements, have supported them every step of the way as they continue to pursue their dreams in the world of Motocross.
