World Pro Racing and the Malta Motorsport Federation Launch Prestigious Malta National Sim Racing Championships

In a exciting announcement for the Maltese motorsport community, World Pro Racing (WPR) and the Malta Motorsport Federation (MMF) have unveiled plans for the highly anticipated Malta National Sim Racing Championships 2024. The announcement, which took place live from the WPR facility, signifies the commencement of the championship’s third consecutive season, thanks to the support from the sponsors Enemed, Gaming Malta and England Insurance.

The championship, which has garnered significant attention since its inception, will feature two exhilarating competitions. One championship consist of the Formula 4 car category on the renowned iRacing platform, while the other will showcase the action of GT3 cars on Assetto Corsa.

The road to the championship will begin with a qualifying phase scheduled to run from April 23rd to May 7th. Depending on the number of participants, an elimination phase will then determine the top 10 drivers in each category, who will earn the opportunity to compete in the prestigious 5-round championships.

Participants will have the flexibility to join qualifiers either online or at the World Pro Racing facility, ensuring accessibility for all enthusiasts, whether they possess a home simulator setup or not.

In a generous gesture, thanks to collaborative efforts with iRacing and the FIA, each participant will receive a complimentary iRacing key upon registration and payment of the fee to the MMF. This key, valid for one year from activation, provides access to all necessary features and eliminates the need for additional purchases or modifications. Similarly, participants in the GT3 category will need to own Assetto Corsa Competizione to participate in the qualifiers.

Eligibility criteria stipulate that drivers must be at least 16 years old, Maltese residents or possess a valid Maltese passport. Proof of age and passport will be required from each participant to ensure compliance.

The championship will be broadcasted live on WPR and MMF channels, including coverage on TVMSPORT+. Furthermore, the events will be overseen by MMF licensed stewards, upholding the highest standards of integrity and fairness.

In addition to the National Championship, MMF and WPR have committed to hosting more frequent races on iRacing and other platforms, both online and at the WPR facility. This initiative aims to foster and expand the local sim racing community, building upon WPR’s six-year legacy of cultivating the sport in Malta.

MMF and WPR extend a warm invitation to new participants, emphasizing the competitive nature of the championship and the opportunity it presents for growth and recognition within the global sim racing community. Winners of the championship will earn the esteemed privilege of representing Malta at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia in October, an event of unparalleled prestige and significance. With only two representatives selected, the championship not only offers an unforgettable experience but also the chance to compete against the finest sim racers on the international stage, making it a pursuit worthy of lifelong reverence.
